Research shows that knowledgeable breastfeeding support provided by health care professionals increases exclusivity and duration of breastfeeding. Increasing breastfeeding rates improves health outcomes for families in your care. Many community breastfeeding supports are available to refer to.
The HBHC program provides supports and home visits by Public Health Nurses and trained family visitors. It is a provincial program for expectant parents and families with young children (infants to the start of school) who are experiencing challenges and may need extra support.
