Family and Community Behaviour Services

 
​Halton Region's Family and Community Behaviour Services works with families to address concerns related to children's challenging behaviours.

Halton Region's Family and Community Behaviour Services staff work with families/caregivers to address concerns related to their child or youth’s ability to function successfully in their environment. This service is funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services (external link).

Eligibility

You are eligible to participate in a program if you:

  • live in Halton Region
  • have a child 2 to 21 years of age who has been diagnosed with a developmental disability (not including Autism Spectrum Disorder) or suspected or confirmed Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

How to Access Services

Parents, or professionals with parental consent, can make a referral for service by calling 311.

Available Services

Halton Region's Family and Community Behaviour Service staff work collaboratively with families, children and youth to:

  • Address concerns that might contribute to challenging behaviours
  • Assist with skill development in areas of functional development such as:
    • Communication
    • Play
    • Self-help
    • Social skills
  • Collaborate with other community resources that might benefit the family
  • Assist with referrals to other agencies, as needed.

Families/guardians participate in the development of intervention plans and make decisions related to intervention.

Family and Community Behaviour Service is provided in:

  • Family homes
  • Child care programs
  • Schools
  • Other community settings
