How can the Lighthouse Shelter help me?

Men:

Halton Region funds the Salvation Army’s Lighthouse Shelter (external link) in Oakville. Shelter is provided to individuals identifying as male 16 years of age or older.

Women and Children:

If you identify as a woman or are a family with children and in need of emergency shelter, intake staff through Wesley Urban Ministries will assist you in finding temporary housing. Halton Region provides short-term accommodations to house families in need.

How long can I stay in the shelter?

Designed as temporary support, emergency shelters help you regain stable, assisted or affordable housing. Always try and find family or friends who can offer a safe place for you to stay. The people closest to you can provide vital emotional support to help you through your situation.

The goal of emergency shelters is to connect you with community resources to help you regain independent housing as quickly as possible.

What is the next step?

Transitional housing is the next stage of support for people who require more support than the emergency shelters can offer. Various groups in your community offer this additional support to individuals and families.

Visit any of the community groups below for more information.
