Age-Friendly Communities Project
Age-friendly communities (external link) enable older persons to live safely, maintain their health and participate fully in their community.
In 2010, OAAC held focus groups with older adults in Halton to gather input on topics related to age-friendly communities such as:
- Community involvement
- Driving and public transportation
- Employment and volunteering
- Housing
- Outdoor spaces
- Recreation and social activities
- Services for seniors
- Where and how seniors get information
On June 2, 2011, OAAC hosted the Age-Friendly Communities Forum: A Seniors' Perspective to share information collected from seniors’ focus groups and gain feedback from Halton Region seniors and community stakeholders.
