What to do before you visit

Consider your own personal health and susceptibility to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases in determining whether visiting the long-term care home is appropriate. If you are ill, please stay home.

The day of your visit

• Visitors are no longer required to undergo active screening or asymptomatic surveillance testing upon entry to the home.
• Visitors are required to self-assess for symptoms of COVID-19 and other respiratory or infectious diseases upon arrival to the home. Any person with symptoms should not enter until they are symptom-free for 24 hours (48 hours for nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea).
• The use of medical masks while inside the long-term care home is recommended for all visitors.
• You must complete hand hygiene.
• Visitors should maintain physical distancing from other groups.

Other important information

• Visiting is no longer limited to one essential caregiver at a time for residents who are isolating or live in an area of the home that is affected by an outbreak. All caregivers and visitors must still wear the appropriate required personal protective equipment when visiting a resident who has been placed on isolation precautions.
• Outdoor visiting will be discontinued if there are adverse weather conditions, such as rain or a heat alert.
• Please note that if these rules are not followed, your visits may be discontinued.
