Halton Region recognized as a Greater Toronto Top Employer 2019

Halton Region has been selected as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for 2020. The annual competition, managed by Mediacorp, measures a wide range of criteria showcasing organizations that offer exceptional working environments that promote employee engagement and success. This is the ninth consecutive year that the Region has been recognized with this award.

“We are proud to receive the Greater Toronto Top Employers award for another year, and to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Employers for Recent Graduates,” said Gary Carr, Halton Regional Chair. “By creating a supportive culture that offers rewarding careers and nurtures personal growth, we continue to deliver high-quality programs and services to our community. Our dedicated Council and exceptional staff are the reason why 97 per cent of Halton residents are satisfied with the quality of services provided by Halton Region.”

The Region employs over 2,500 professionals who contribute to meaningful work that makes a positive difference in Halton. When considering Halton for the award, Mediacorp reviewed its wellness programs, opportunities for recent graduates, supports for new parents, professional development and training, working conditions and onsite amenities at its administrative headquarters.

The Greater Toronto Top Employer competition reviews submissions from both the public and private sector—including national and multinational organizations—and is based on the same comprehensive criteria as the national contest (external link). The Region has also been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Employers for Recent Graduates for 2020. This category focuses on organizations that hire recent college and university graduates, and provide training programs, career planning and advancement opportunities. Halton was recognized for its intern program, which is designed to help recent graduates gain valuable work experience in their field. Interns work closely with our diverse team of professionals to gain valuable experience through mentoring, coaching and supporting our work to deliver high-quality services to residents and businesses in Halton.
