Regional Council and Committee Meetings

Regional Council conducts its business at meetings held monthly. The meeting schedules for committees vary depending on their individual requirements. The Council and Committee Meeting Schedule is adopted every year by Regional Council; however, the dates and times of scheduled meetings are subject to change.

All meetings of Council and Committee are open to the public unless closed under one of the exceptions in Section 239 of the Municipal Act, 2001 (external link). Members of the public who wish to observe a Council or Committee meeting but not speak at it do not need to register in advance. Members of the public may make presentations to Council or Committee on their own behalf or on behalf of companies/organizations. Please review our Guide for Delegates to find out how.

In-person Council and Committee meetings are held at the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville (Google Maps link). Electronic / hybrid meetings are held via Zoom with some attendees in-person and others online. External committee and board meetings may be held in other locations. Halton Regional Council meetings and some Committee meetings are livestreamed and can be viewed here..

Meetings are livestreamed except for those meetings or portions of meetings that deal with confidential items.

Council and committee proceedings, are governed by Procedural By-law 90-19, as amended.

Public Information Centre Meetings

Public Information Centre meetings are held as needed to provide information and collect input on significant public projects. Representatives from the Region and any consultants attend these meetings to provide answers to questions. The location of these meetings is generally held in the ward where the project is to be undertaken.
