Halton Region partners with your local hydro utility to bill residents for water and wastewater services and collaborates with ARO Inc. and Partners in Credit Inc. (PIC) to obtain assistance with collections of unpaid bills. Residential water meters are read and billed every two months. Readings are obtained from your water meter using a remote touchpad attached to the outside of your house.
Breaking down your water bill
Your meter readings are used to calculate water use. The average household in Halton Region uses 250 cubic metres (m3) per year (42 m3 bi-monthly). To investigate possible leaks, please visit High Water Bills and Leaks.
All water accounts are billed a fixed service charge. This charge is based on the meter size at your property. These charges help pay for Halton Region’s fixed costs to treat and distribute water to residents (i.e., treatment plants, water and sewer infrastructure).
Usage charges include a water charge and a wastewater charge.
